Godalkanje Fiddle Gang – violin orchestra

Jean-Christophe Gairard, already known to the Slovenian audience, will upgrade his current productions with Godalkanje and the Symbolic Orchestra. Jean-Christophe spent a large part of his life in Transylvania, where he studied traditional and gypsy music. He is a violinist and composer and a sought-after mentor of Transylvanian and Romanian music, leading workshops throughout Europe. In 2014, he was a soloist in the international project “European Symbolic Orchestra”, with which he also recorded the album “Terrafolk & European Symbolic Orchestra – XXLive”. In 2012 and 2016, he led Romanian music workshops as part of Godalkanje education and recorded quite a few successful online videos with it. This time he will first present the impact of his research on the performance in the jazz trio, in which two of the most penetrating young Slovenian musicians, Nejc Škofic and Jošt Lampret, will participate. They are recognized in jazz or classical waters, but both also cultivate a love and respect for traditional music. With the participation of the string band Godalkanje Fiddle Gang, the evening will have even more traditional feel to it.

Around 22:15 follows Fidde Gang Jam – an audiophile exhibition of musical journeys, which will take you mainly into the world of Romanian and Serbian melodies thus time. It is performed by a 10-member ensemble of participants in the “Balkan Fiddle Gate” workshops, which run in parallel with Kamfest in the Mekinje Monastery.
