This year, we are bringing a special program to Festival Ljubljana, showcasing productions created within the Godalkanje.org platform over the past five years. The Romanian, Serbian, and Disco productions have each pushed the boundaries of musical genres in their own way. Rather than blending musical languages, this concert offers a tasteful cross-genre journey through musical worlds that many might find incompatible.

The Godalkanje Fiddle Gang’s video performances in their original folk versions have become viral sensations on social media. Now, the concert version comes to life through collaboration with outstanding jazz musicians and DJ Mirko Vičentič Polič.

Young violinists who, as children, performed with the group Terrafolk at the Serbian Violin Festival in Pranjani in 2019 have since grown into professional musicians. This year, the concert lineup will also appear at the prestigious Nišville Jazz Festival.

Join us for an evening of Balkan rhythms and ‘70s Disco vibes—whether you prefer to listen or dance!

Free entrance.

Godalkanje – Disco Violins 🎻🌍

📅 March 23rd
📍 Trefpunt Concertzaal, Ghent (Walter de Buckplein 5, 9000 Gent)

Introduction Workshop & Jam Session

Mentors:
🎻 Bojan Cvetrežnik & Barja Drnovšek (Slovenia)

Violin Workshop (Intermediate & Advanced Level)

Godalkanje created a spectacular show inspired by the best 70s grooves. Originally, 40 violins performed on 7 stages (islands) surrounding a main island with a DJ band in the center of a city square. Violin parts were arranged at different levels, allowing both children and professional violinists to join in.

Now, we are developing smaller modules with intermediate and advanced violinists, making it possible to perform this amazing material in intimate venues with minimal technical requirements.

🎶 Want to try it out and experience something extraordinary? 🎶

We are hosting an introduction workshop in Ghent for local violinists. Whether you are comfortable playing easy Vivaldi concertos or folk tunes, or you’re a professional player looking for a new challenge, you are welcome to join!
