what?

A series of acoustic string concerts

‘Pr’ Goslač’ is a series of acoustic string concerts (it literally means At the Fiddler’s). It has been a regular feature of the programme since 2022. During the autumn and winter months, it brings five musical events to the ZRC Atrium once a month, highlighting the diversity of music performed on string instruments. Each concert offers its own musical language. The stage has hosted young and established performers of classical (including newly composed works), jazz and various forms of traditional music.

The concerts are performed without amplification; the acoustics of the atrium allow smaller string ensembles to showcase their strengths. Some concerts are also recorded and published on our YouTube channel. The events are also an opportunity for musicians and string teachers to meet during the informal gathering after the concert – the jam sessions in the foyer showcase traditional folk music from across Europe. You are invited to the concert, to socialise or to join in the jam session. Admission is free; the audience is invited to make voluntary contributions.

Propertea is etno-folk music group, composed of six violins, two guitars, cello and double bass, they furthermore enrich their sound with group and solo vocals. Band in its current form exists since September of 2019 as part of Kulturno društvo Stična, before that they were part of Glasbena šola Grosuplje and led by Polona Udovič as music group Gross Upi, which was founded in 2008 and performed on various local stages, in Cankar Hall, as part of ESTA congress, etc.

Propertea’s repertoire includes traditional music and compositions from South America, the Balkans, Ireland, Scotland and other countries, they also play their own compositions. They are also commited to performing Slovenian traditional music, which is refreshed by their original and inovative arrangements. Their performance and arrangements are influenced by great names of Slovenian folk music scene such as Matija Solce, Bojan Cvetrežnik and others. Their concert activities are mostly based on organising their own concerts in music bars and cultural centres around Ljubljana, they also participate on various festivals and events.

Midnight Sun

If we don’t listen to our sorrow, who do we become? And who do we become if we don’t listen at all? When was the last time you truly listened to someone… and when was the last time you truly listened to yourself, without judgment or prejudice?

In her new project MIDNIGHT SUN / Polnočno sonce, singer and artistic leader Zvezdana Novaković ZveN has crafted a musical reflection of the natural Arctic phenomenon, when the sun persistently shines across the night sky. The music of this project invites us to confront our inner labyrinths while offering hope that we can find peace and light even in the most hidden chambers of the human soul.

With Zvezdana’s vocals, a string quartet, and electronics, Midnight Sun paints landscapes of warm light in the night and the timelessness of the day in an endless dawn.

Ritam Riot brings the vibrant musical traditions of the Balkans into a fresh contemporary context. With an infectious sense of rhythm, a spirit of improvisation, and imaginative arrangements, the ensemble creates performances that are both deeply rooted in tradition and unmistakably their own. Inspired by the diverse musical heritage of the Balkans, the group seamlessly blends traditional melodies and rhythms with influences from jazz and other contemporary musical styles. Rather than merely preserving the past, Ritam Riot reimagines it – transforming familiar tunes into vivid, energetic, and emotionally engaging musical experiences. Their performances celebrate the meeting of tradition and innovation, balancing virtuosic musicianship, expressive freedom, and irresistible dance energy.

For this special collaboration, Ritam Riot is joined by cimbalom virtuoso Lubomir Gaspar to explore the rich musical landscapes of Hungary and Romania. The program journeys from the exhilarating brilliance of the csárdás to the haunting lyricism of the doina, while also featuring original compositions by the performers. Together, they invite audiences into a world where centuries-old traditions meet fresh artistic expression.

Where?
Velenje Youth Hostel, Velenje, Slovenia

For whom?
Suitable for all string players who can perform the repertoire for the 4th grade of music school.

Would you like to play the violin and spend a few days in great company?
Do you go to a music school or have you ever learnt the violin in the past?
Would you like to apply your knowledge to your life?

At the Godalkanje Junior Fiddle Camp in Velenje we will introduce children to attractive violin skills with the aim of strengthening their technical stability, sense of pulse, confidence in performance and joy of playing. We will learn the technique of performing accompaniments and playing simple chords. We hope that the good weather will allow us to busk in the streets. If you have any concerns or fears, please feel free to contact us or those who have had fears in previous years but no longer know.

Do you play the violin or cello and fancy a fantastic out-of-the-box adventure?

Come and join a special string project! A mix of energetic folk tunes, groovy string parts from 1970s disco, driving beats and compelling vocal lines.

What is the concept?

In a series of workshops, you will learn to create a cool vibe together, work on tight timing through bowing techniques, and there will be opportunities for improvisation. You will discover a new angle from which to further develop your technique and musicality. We will work towards a few small concerts in cool locations, and maybe there will be a chance to perform on a big stage in July 2026.

IN SHORT: 5 workshops and 4 short concerts.

About the teachers:

Bojan and Barja are two Slovenian top violinists who combine lots of fun with improving violin playing. They have been giving workshops for years at the Fiddlers On The Move violin festival (www.fotm.be), which attracts more than 200 violinists every year. Their workshops are always a great success. Many of their students in Slovenia are now successfully working at a professional level.

Bojan and Barja realised a similar project in Slovenia in 2022, involving 40 violinists, which culminated in a performance for a wide audience on the occasion of ECoC heritage (ECoC = European Capital of Culture, realised in collaboration with Narodni dom Maribor).
